Los Angeles —  Today, St. John’s Community Health reported that their clinics are administering the COVID-19 vaccine to about 50 children under age 5 per day. Total, they’ve been vaccinating approximately 200 people per day.

Since last week, when St. John’s reported they had enrolled nearly 8,000 of their undocumented patients who were newly qualified for Medi-Cal, they have enrollled hundreds more – bringing them up to 8,614 and rapidly closer to their goal of enrolling all 9,000 eligible patients in the program.

Meanwhile, the positive rate at their clinics is at an all-time high, with a 30-50 percent positivity rate every day within the last week. This week, they have also administered Paxlovid to dozens of patients, and have given out close to 4,500 at-home rapid test kits – the highest need for both services since they became available.

“This week has illustrated to us that the pandemic is still in full swing – but also that we have a comprehensive box of tools at our disposal to keep people out of the hospitals and prevent death,” said Jim Mangia, president and CEO of St. John’s Community Health. “We are heartened to see so many parents choosing to vaccinate their children at a young age, providing them critical immunity as we continue to navigate the ever changing virus.”
