Los Angeles —  Today, St. John’s Community Health reported that testing, positive COVID-19 rates, and vaccination rates have slowed this week. In light of the fact that only 29 percent of 5-11 year olds in Los Angeles County have received are fully vaccinated, St. John’s has shifted their mobile operations to elementary schools in order to better reach this population.

“We’re working to get as many young children vaccinated as possible before school lets out for the summer,” said Jim Mangia, president and CEO of St. John’s Community Health. “Reaching this population is multifaceted – we need to be physically accessible, available to address questions and concerns from parents, and engage teachers in the effort to keep their classrooms safer.”

St. John’s is also doing direct outreach to everyone who got vaccinated through their clinics to invite them to become primary care patients, in an effort to continue closing health access gaps in South, Central, and East Los Angeles.
