Los Angeles – On Sunday, prominent restaurants in Los Angeles will come together to donate their time, talent, and passion to promote access to health services for underserved Angelenos at the annual Movable Feast hosted by St. John’s Community Health.

This year’s proceeds will go towards building out the street medicine program that provides critical health care services to thousands of unhoused people in Los Angeles.

At the event, St. John’s Community Health will honor Mayor Karen Bass, SEIU-UHW president Dave Regan, and Delta Dental Community Care Foundation.

“Everyone deserves access to health care and a liveable wage,” said Jim Mangia, president and CEO of St. John’s Community Health. “That’s why this year, we made the move to pay our staff a minimum of $25 per hour. They do critical and challenging work every single day, including providing essential health care services to our unhoused neighbors. We look forward to expanding our street medicine services to continue treating unhoused people in Los Angeles with dignity and care.”

“The city of Los Angeles is working urgently to bring unhoused Angelenos inside and ensure that they are not dying on our streets,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “The street medicine team at St. John’s Community Health is critical to our efforts to provide life-saving care for our unhoused neighbors. I am proud to stand with them and honored to accept this award.”

“We were honored to partner with St. John’s Community Health to help pass a $25 minimum wage for their staff this year – and believe it sends a message to other organizations and businesses that paying workers fairly is both possible and necessary,” said Dave Regan, president of SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW). “Fair wages help ensure organizations like St. John’s can recruit and retain staff to do essential work like serving unhoused populations through their street medicine team.”
