A Free Legal Services Program
St John’s Community Health Legal Services Program is excited to provide qualifying residents of Los Angeles County these free legal services with the support of LA County, Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs and the funding assistance of the American Rescue Fund.

About The Program:
Estate Planning is about life and death and how your choices impact the legacy you leave for your family. In an effort to help Los Angeles County qualifying residents protect their assets after death and plan for future unexpected events, we will be providing eligible applicants with free estate planning services. These services will help residents avoid the long and expensive probate process while preserving intergenerational wealth.
Services:
Assistance planning for events that may happen during your lifetime:
Advance Health Care directive– a legal document that allows you to decide future medical treatments in case you can no longer do so.
Power of Attorney– a legal document that allows you to give another person the authority to make financial decisions and transactions on your behalf.
Assistance planning for what should happen after you die:
Will– a legal document that says how your property will be distributed when you die and who will help with the distribution of your property.
Revocable Living Trust– a legal document where you designate a person to eventually be responsible for managing your assets in the best interest of the beneficiaries. It places your assets in trust for your benefit during your lifetime and specifies where and how your assets should go after your death.
~ During your lifetime, you have complete control and you can make changes. If you become incapacitated or die, this document will help direct the next generation and most importantly, avoids probate.
~ Important for all homeowners as it will make sure your home goes to the people you want after your death while avoiding probate.
Counsel and Advice: We will give you advice, review information and counsel you on resolving estate planning questions.
Self-help guidance: We will guide you in the preparation of common estate planning documents preparing short letters, wills, power of attorney, and other legal documents.

Be a Los Angeles County resident in the highest and high need area of Los Angeles County MORE INFORMATION
Have Low-Moderate Income MORE INFORMATION
For services related to assets, such as a house, be the legal owner.

SERVICIOS :
Asistencia planificando para acontecimientos que puedan suceder durante su vida::

Poder notarial: – un documento legal que le permite otorgarle a otra persona la autoridad para tomar decisiones y hacer transacciones financieras en su nombre.
Asistencia planificando lo que debería suceder después de su muerte:
Testamento: – un documento legal que indica cómo se distribuirán sus bienes cuando usted muera y quién le ayudará con la distribución de sus bienes.
Fideicomiso en vida revocable: – un documento legal en el que usted designa a una persona que eventualmente será responsable de administrar sus bienes para sus beneficiarios. Pone sus bienes en un fideicomiso bajo su control durante su vida y especifica dónde y cómo deben ir a sus después de su muerte.
~ Durante su vida, tiene control total y puede hacer cambios. En caso de incapacidad o muerte, este documento ayudará a dirigir a la próxima generación y, lo más importante, evitará el proceso judicial de validar un testamento.
~ Este documento es importante para todos los propietarios de viviendas, ya que garantizará que su propiedad quede a nombre de a las personas que desea después de su muerte y, al mismo tiempo, evitará un proceso judicial largo y costoso.
Asesoría legal: le daremos consejos, revisaremos información y le asesoráremos en la resolución de sus preguntas sobre la planificación patrimonial.
Orientación de autoayuda: Le guiáremos en la preparación de documentos comunes de planificación patrimonial. Por ejemplo: preparando cartas breves, testamentos, poderes y otros documentos legales.
