Los Angeles — This summer, St. John’s Community Health kicked off the Committed to Black Wellness and Health Program to address disparities in health faced by Black mothers and their infants. The program offers an innovative grassroots approach to addressing racism as a public health issue, providing mental health care, pre and post natal healthcare, case management, health education classes, weekly group sessions, free supplies, and more.

On Wednesday, October 11, St. John’s is holding a resource fair and community event at their clinic on Crenshaw, to further celebrate and engage those participants as well as educate the greater community about the program. There are currently over 100 mothers participating in the program, and St. John’s aims to have 300 participants by the end of the year.
